Default Playing avi on Macintosh in full screen?

Iąm using OS X 10.3.4.

I have an .avi file which I was unable to play with sound until I installed
3ivx and DivX Doctor II. This converted the .avi file to a .mov file, and it
plays using Quicktime 6.5.1. The only problem is, from what I can gather
Quicktime doesnąt alow you to play in full screen mode.

So, tried Windows Media Player as that has a full screen function, however
WMP doesnąt seem to want to play either the .avi or the .mov file.

Is there a solution (eg. some way to have WMP play either the .avi or the
..mov file) without me downloading yet another media player, or is that the
only choice?

Many thanks...Steven

Not that this is the answer you may be looking for, but paying for the
QuickTime Pro registration key will allow QuickTime player to play in
full-screen mode. Last I knew, the key for QuickTime Pro is $29.95 at
Apple Store on line.

I've been a QuickTime Pro user for about four years and I have found the
$30 money well spent as QuickTime Pro makes QuickTime a whole lot more
useful.

You could make an effort in downloading one of the following two
applications:

mPlayer (Mac-version of Linux-app):
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/16623

VLC:

Other than that, I fully support Stephen in buying QuickTimePro. I did that
too, and I have no doubts, it's worth the money!!

If one installs BOTH the DivX 5.1.x codec and the 3ivX codec. One can
then play DivX AVI files with full audio support in QuickTime without
messing around converting to .mov. 3ivX handles the video, which is good
as it is faster than DivX, whilst DivX's fix for the QuickTime AVI MP3
audio problem takes care of the audio.

There are also one or two freeware full screen QuickTime video players
available (search macupdate.com) if you don't wish to use VLC or MPlayer

Ppl alover the world did and they work

The answer to your question for the .avi its a simple thing to sort
Search on apple.com for a program called VLC its a player bit like quicktime
but it plays .avi files
