| After years of listening to my wife curse her Mac and not finding the answer myself, I thought I'd ask here. Every time she gets an email containing an MS Word document written on Windows, if she doesn't carefully right click on it and choose "Open With..." (or whatever it is on MacOS) it opens in AppleWorks, even though she has MS Word installed on her Mac. I understand that Macs have their own way of keeping track of file types, but how do we control the way otherwise-untyped files are interpreted? In OS X, get info on the file, select the "open with" application, and click the "Change All" button. -- ~ Stay Calm... Be Brave... Unfortunately, this doesn't work. I'm trying to have all .avi and .mpg opened with vlc by default. I picked a .avi file and selected File->Get Info. So far so good. I hit the drop-down menu for Open With and select VLC. When I let go, it goes right back to QuickTime Player. What's wrong? David |

Another step in helping me dump Windows and move totally to Mac. David |
