Default 2-Sided Semi-Automatic Printing

On my old G3/9.2.2/HP 870 Printer/HP driver 9.4.2 system I could do
partly automatic 2-sided printing. That is, once the Print command was
dispatched, the odd pages of the document would be printed. Then the
printer would wait for me to manually turn over the document, put it
back in the printe, tell it to go again and the even pages would be
printed. And, if the document had an odd humber of pages, a blank last
sheet would be kicked out.

Does anyone know of a way to do the same thing on an iMac
G5/10.4.8/Epson CX4200 Printer. I would think that this is a good
candidate for an Apple Script program but the Epson driver does not
appear to be scriptable.

AppleScript is indeed the ideal choice. You want to use PDF Services
which has been available since OS 10.2.something. Basically, you write
the AppleScript and place it in a PDF Services folder in /Library or
~/Library.

See
<http://developer.apple.com/document...ual/PDF_Workflo
w/PDF_Workflow.pdf> for further details.
