Default Stripey screen

I get vertical stripes all over the screen. I tried re-booting, only the
stripes might be a different thickness. Sometimes, there are no stripes.

I've removed the card and re-seated it, and I've tried another monitor, but
it keeps happening with varying results.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks David. Suspected it was, but wasn't sure.

It's the only test you haven't done.

And, call me Dave. My mother calls me David.

Sorry bout that. I'd realized straight after I'd posted it.

Good news and bad news. I bought a video card from ebay and everything
worked fine for a while, but there is now another problem. When I press the
on button to boot up, a blank screen immediately lights up as normal, then
goes dark for a few seconds (still normal?), then lights up again but with a
fine 'newspaper dot screen' showing and that's how it stays. The only way to
get round it is by zapping the pram when booting up, then it's ok.

It's annoying, but bearable for now. Could it be the battery?

I suppose so. It could also be that you bought a piece of garbage from
eBay. Wouldn't be the first time.
