| Hello: I am new to Mac, so let me say that first. I have the Mac Book Pro OSX 10.4 Intel I want to run mySQL and phpMyAdmin to it. I downloaded mySQL for the Mac and ran the install but no idea if it is running or how to get it running. I also installed phpMyAdmin but here again I cannot figure out how to get it running. Speaking of this when I look at the file icons they show the Dreamweaver image on all the php files. I'm sure this is not right either. Dreamweaver is on the machine by the way. Can someone help me or is there another group I should be asking this in?? -- Scott skr1224@comcast.net "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World" |

| Hi Scott, The MySQL installer for the Mac comes with an additional file. Not sure what it is called, but the names makes clear that it is a preferences pane aka control panel. Double-click this file to install it in the control panel of Mac OS X automatically. Now, you can use the Mac OS X control panel to stop and start the server. You can also have the server start automatically on startup. Once you have done this, log in as root without password (or an empty password) on the MySQL server, using your terminal. If it works, the server is running. If it doesn't, you can simply check the control panel to see if it is running. If it isn't, start it up. If it is, make sure that your login is correct. Don't forget to set your password after logging in as root. Best, Mark Scott R. wrote: > Hello: > > I am new to Mac, so let me say that first.
