However, a simple way to take data from an AW spreadsheet to an AW database is copy and paste, which you can do for the entire dataset in a single operation. 1. Create a database document, with the fields defined using corresponding names and field order as for the columns in the spreadsheet. Leave the database in Browse mode. Leave it with only one empty record, the same state in which it was when you created it. 2. Make the spreadsheet the front document. 3. Select all the data in the spreadsheet, including the column headings 4. Do Edit>>Copy 5. Make the database the front document. 6. Click in the empty space outside the fields of the database. 7. Do Edit>>Paste The data from the spreadsheet should now be in the database, one record per spreadsheet row, with the fields correctly populated. The first record will be empty, the second one will contain the names of the spreadsheet columns, and the data from the rows of the spreadsheet will appear in subsequent records. This method also works for adding records to an existing database. Bill -- For email, remove invalid. |
