Default Penelope initial release (and Thunderbird 3.0 alpha)

By initial release, I mean 0.1a8 -- early alpha:
http://eudorabb.qualcomm.com/attach...ttachmentid=371 for Penelope
and you must use latest nightly build of Thunderbird:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla....y/latest-trunk/

OK, I'll bite. What the hell is the "xpi" file referred to in the above
link? I'm guessing it's not something relevant to the Mac newsgroup in
which it's posted.

XPI files are cross platform. Not sure what it stands for, but just
like Firefox can have plugins/extensions, so too can Thunderbird.

Right -- in this case, it modifies Thunderbird to have Eudora
icons/menu options.

It's *really* an Alpha -- both on the Thunderbird side and the Eudora
side.

But it's good to see the project moving forward!
