Hi all,
Does anyone know the following about the new Macbook Pro
with the Intel cpu in it?
1. Does it do EM64T?
2. Does it do multi-threading?
3. Can it boot to a bootable DVD for installs of other os's?
I am fairly sure it can but I thought I should ask.
thanks,
charles.....

No. You'll have to wait for the next chip in the Core line (currently
known as Merom) for that.

The question as you've asked it doesn't have anything to do with CPUs,
so I'm not sure what you actually meant.

Macs have been able to boot from optical discs almost as long as optical
discs have existed. The newest models are no exception.
Now, whether that bootable DVD you've got is sufficient for the machine
on which you're trying to boot and vice-versa is a very different
question. And the answer is: Depends on the DVD.

I have no idea what it means, but it's such a cool "word" (by which I mean
pronouncable sequence of letters) regardless.

Multithreading is one thing and has nothing in particular to do with the
CPU; hyperthreading (even if it's called "simultaneous multithreading")
is something more specific. And the answer is no, it doesn't do
hyperthreading.
But, because it's a dual core machine, it certainly does support
simultaneous execution of multiple threads.
