Hi Heywood,

Firstly, I'm not sure if you're taking the micky or
are serious.

Well, we're in Australia, here in Ausrtalia we pay
stupid prices for just about everything to do with
computers.

Also, I'm trying to get away from an increasingly
verticle 'MicroSoft' culture that many organisations
are getting themselves into.

I prefer to run a mixed environment for several
reasons, the main one being a belief that it is best
to choose 'best of breed' components to put into an
environment.

I for one do not understand the emotional reaction
that so many people have against a computing platform,
in this case the Macintosh.

Yes, DELL PC's are cheap to start with, but when you add on the
upgrade to XP Professional and XP Office (XP Home is USELESS
in a corporate network environment) the difference between
them and a Mac drops considerably.

We're still going through our trial, some people prefer
the XP look and feel, others have taken straight to the
slightly different interface of OSX easily.

Opinions are divided over the 'Dock', I don't mind it, but
if confuses some people, I'll have a look tommorrow and see
if I can change its behaviour.

The one step needed to turn the dock into a versatile launcher is to
put folders in the dock -- say, your applications and documents folder.
I have a folder with aliases to my most frequently-used apps, and they
all launch with a flick of the wrist.

Maybe you should sober up and read his post again. I can't imagine
how few braincells you'd need to misread his intent.
