While I haven't come across any real information concerning
Luxology products being developed I must make the assumption that
these products are 3D tools targeting the Broadcast and Movie
industries.
Given this understanding a hardware based GPU is practically
useless as any end result rendering would vary from vender to
vender, model to model as well as driver to driver.
Such a market would require reproducable result reqardless of
hosting system. This can only be guaranteed with a custom
software based renderer that con produce the same visuals
regardless of the hist platform and display hardware.
Thus this become a VERY relevant test.

I agree, and I think that's why Luxology's engineering team chose it.
Hanson seems to think differently... I'm still waiting for his reasons.

This is the weirdest logic I've seen from a Mac zealot yet. It
doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Mac zealot! Where does that come from?
Tell me how many render farms have GPUs on each machine?

Must be:

"Hanson has invested heavily in becoming expert in the development and
deployment of eBusiness strategies and solutions utilizing Microsoft
technologies and platforms. "
The poor guy doesn't know any better. Or Microsoft is paying him enough
for him to be willing to look stupid publicly.
