If I register for a dotmac account from the UK, can I still pay for it
in $ or do I have to pay in £? (Paying in $ works out cheaper at
current exchange rates...)

Well done, that's the first time I've seen someone using a
humourous domain name spam trap who actualy owns the domain
himself.

Other than me, of course!

Well, I though around 3 quid a year was a reasonable price to pay for a
laugh at the spammers!
