Hi Gary!

The fault may not be Microsoft's nor their inability to keep IE up-to-date.

When you receive these messages and your web browser is the most current,
then the developers of the website may have purposely made the website
Windows-centric. In other words, they are testing to make sure that your
browser version meets the minimum standards they feel should be used for a
Windows system, but they have neglected to test for web browsers from other
operating systems such as Macintosh.

FYI, I checked BOA's website and their FAQ section says it does support Mac
IE 5.0 or higher or Netscape 6.2 or higher. I would contact BOA's Customer
Service about this and log a problem. I don't suggest using the feedback
forms for webmasters because Customer Service will typically have more
influence in what changes get recorded and made.

As for Discover Card, I couldn't find anything about their supported web
browsers. You should contact them as well.

Here's something you can do to test what I'm telling you. I recommend this
only for testing and not as a work-around for your problem.

Download Safari from Apple's website. Safari is Apple's free web browser
release and is considered to become the commonly used replacement for IE
since Microsoft is no longer continuing development of IE.

Test both your websites. If you can access your information, use Safari to
do your banking.

(This is the part you should do only for testing...) If any of your sites
don't work, QUIT Safari and then open the Terminal application found in
Applications --> Utilities and type the following (mind the capitalization)
and then the Return key:

defaults write com.apple.safari IncludeDebugMenu 1

This will enable a Debug menu in Safari just after your Help menu.

Open Safari and from the Debug menu select User Agent --> Windows MSIE 6.0.

Test your sites again by trying to access your information. I don't suggest
doing anything other than browsing your information.

If this works, then the websites have been developed to only test for
Windows systems. Contact your institutions' Customer Service folks and log
your concern.

Hope this helps! bill

I don't know what's going on with Discover Card and IE, but I was able
to log in fine with either Mozilla or Safari--no "browser spoofing"
necessary.
