I've just discovered the same thing. When I called their customer
service department and was switched to their online area, the supervisor
there informed me that their site had *never* been accessible to Macs.
When I begged to differ, he became most snippy.

I'm using OS 10.2.6 with IE 5.2.3, and I also tried accessing it through
Safari, just for kicks. That one at least let me sign in, but it only
let me access my account from over a month ago -- not this month's bill.

I may switch services when my contract runs out, if they don't fix this
pretty soon.

Try Opera. They have coded their browser to appear as IE. It works on the PC
side when accessing IE only sites. I'd imaging they have done the same thing
with their Mac browser.

Interesting. You can do the same thing with OmniWeb (I've never tried this
with Opera).

I've just downloaded Opera and tried setting the Quick Preferences to
every possible option. No luck. But thanks for the suggestion.

Just out of curiosity, if Verizon's stance were to continue to support
Windows only and you had to choose from the three avilable options, would
you get a Windows machine, change telephone companies or give up your need
for online access?

Personally, and notwithstanding the previously good service I'd had from
Verizon, I'll switch telephone companies -- as soon as my current
contract expires. That will be in April. So that gives Verizon a more
than reasonable period of time in which to get this fixed.

I was able to use Safari and Camino under OS X 10.2.6 to connect with
Verizon Wireless's online service. I was not able to use IE 5.2.3.

I believe you were only able to view the online activity from over a month
ago is because Verizon was having computer problems with the online
system. I sent them an e-mail asking about the problem, and then my new
data finally showed up about a week later.

Just for your information, starting in November cellular companies are
required to start offering number portability. That means you will be
able to keep your cellular phone number no matter which company you go
with. They cellular companies were fighting this pretty hard saying it
was going to cost too much money. The court rejected their argument about
a month ago. Most cellular companies are going to charge each customer
between $1 and $2 a month for the cost to maintain their systems. Verizon
is the only cellular company that is not going to charge their customers.

I guess the squeeky wheel gets the grease... after spending hours
going around and around with verizon customer support and web tech...
after hearing from the tech that if I did not have either ie 5.5 or
6.0 (windows) I could no longer access my info... I get an email from
verizon "Your current Verizon bill statement is now available for
online viewing and payment. The internet bill is a restatement of your
paper bill. Please view your bill at
https://www.verizonwireless.com/." I go to the site and I can again
access my info... which leads me to believe two scenarios... their
site was malfunctioning for two months and would not say it was from
their end or enough customers got ticked enough that they updated
their site??? Who knows.. I just know that for any reason one does not
pay the bill on time or whatever...the customer typically pays the
extra fees... if for some reason the company does not live up to their
part of the bargain... that does not count... oh well... guess I
should feel grateful that I am a recognized citizen again.

Thank heavens, it was temporary. I can now log in via Safari, and my

I tried to use Safari yesterday and was unable to. I have always been
able to use Camino with no problems.
