Since I upgraded to IE 5.2.3, IE keeps quitting and quitting and
quitting at startup. Since I quit on Entourage for the same reasons (
and switched to Mail) and, before I do the same with IE ( for Safari
or Netscape), can anybody help?
I tried everything Mickey Stevens suggested a few days ago. But to no
avail. I am on OS 10.2.6 (iBook, 256 MB RAM, 700 MHz).
I have seen many postings on the same subject in the Entourage and IE
discussion groups. Is this problem system specific? Version specific?
Mac specific? OSX specific?

I want to emphasize this problem!
As I posted earlier here and also in the Entourage newsgroup I got problems
using IE and Entourage from one day to another.
IE immediately quits after asking if it should be my default browser (no)
during startup.
With Entourage X I can not see anymore Mails with complex HTML (if so
Entourage quits immediately).
Thanks to Mickey Stevens I tried everything that he suggested. I even
uninstalled the Office X and reinstalled it (the same with IE 5.2.3)
But the problem is still the same :-(
My Mac also runs under 10.2.6 (G4, 400 MHz, 768 MB RAM).
Could it be, that there is a kind of incompability between IE/Entourage with
complex-HTML and Acrobat 6 Pro?
Yes, Iīm a little bit frustrated and started to switch to Mail and
Mozilla/Camino.

Hi Bill,
I would do (eventually) the same, but Iīm running OS 10.2.6 and I donīt know
how to uninstall and reinstall a clean System...
And I donīt want to think in the time I would need to restore all of my Apps
with their Preferences...

One troubelshooting trick I've learned with Mac OS X systems is to simply
create another user account and test your applications with that. Corrupt
user preferences and settings are the primary culprit of applications
quitting.
Your Mac OS X system may be just fine, but some settings within your own
home folder may be damaged.
If you find that you are still unable to use the apps under a brand new test
identity, then you do have a system-wide problem (your main application
installs or your main Mac OS X system install).
If you find that you have no more problems, you can troubleshoot within your
home folder or you can try to migrate your files, bookmarks, etc., from the
old identity to the new identity.
Hope this helps! bill
