View Full Version : Cannot "Send" from my Hotmail accts

I am using Entourage X SR1 10.1.4
On a Powerbook G4 with Mac OSX 10.2.8
I have several email accounts set up, both POP and Hotmail. Everything has
been working fine until the day before yesterday when I did my usual
Send/Receive All and got an error msg saying that
Mail could not be sent using the account ³<hotmail acct>²
HTTP error. Access to the resource has not been authorized.
Error: 1401
I can receive new msgs on both of my Hotmail accts but it will not send mail
from either one.
I¹ve read several of the msgs in this news group and visited the Entourage
MVP site but haven¹t found anything that has helped. I have also gone to
the Hotmail Options & Support pages ‹ again no dice.
I¹m kind of a Mac newbie so does anybody have any advice about how to
troubleshoot/fix this?
btw I have both Explorer and Safari installed, IE 5.2.2 is the default
browser, and neither Hotmail account is the default/main email account
Thx in advance

Cannot "Send" from my Hotmail acctsHi Karla
The problem seems to be with Internet configuration/preferences settings, you can try doing this
1. Go to the following location > Hard Drive:/Users/Home/Library/Preferences
2. Trash the following folders: com.apple.Internetconfig.plist and
com.apple.Interentpref.plist
3. Delete the account and reconfigure account again
Please let me know if it resolves your problem

This worked ‹ THANKS!
What I did was move all the msgs from my two Hotmail accts to a local
directory, then I deleted the accounts, then shutdown Entourage, went back
to Finder & deleted the files you called for, then relaunched Entourage and
added the new accts.
Could u pls just give me a quick bullet on why it worked ‹ as I mentioned, I
am new to Mac but am a pretty sophisticated Windows user and am interested
in understanding the Mac OS
Thx again!

Re: Cannot "Send" from my Hotmail acctsHi!!
Entourage keeps almost everything, even most of its preferences, in the identity database, there are a few things kept in the account library i.e mail account passwords are stored in Keychain,. It keeps cookie settings and cookie-related preferences in the library com.apple.internetconfig.plist and com.apple.Interentpref.plist, which it shares with Internet Explorer. These prefrences over the time may get courrupted and there may be the need to create new preferences and the best way to is to delete them. Once you launch the application the brand new and uncorrupted preferences are automatically created.
I hope I am able to give you a satisfied answer
I am always there to help you out on your Mac issues and in turn I may get in touch with you on Windows issues :-)
