Do you know what version of the system he is running ???

It's more than that. QT is the layer used in most applications to
display movies under MacOS. It is a part of the system. The QT player is
just an app using QT to display movies.

You can download a set of Indeo video codecs for QT from the Apple web
site, but it's only for MacOS 8/9. I don't remember seing any of these
ifor MacOS X, but since the QT version included in MacOS X is a lot more
advanced, it could already be part of the set.
Some avi codecs are not offered through the standard configuration. Some
of them can be downloaded through the System Preferences/QuickTime, and
others are provided by third parties (eg: the DivX.com codecs). You can
try installing them hoping that the codecs you need are supported by the
thrid party codecs.

Stay away from Indeo AVI...Indeo is optimized for Intel hardware on PC. Will
run SLOW AS MOLASSAS on a Mac.

If you are authoring on PC...use Quicktime Pro (PC) and save as a mpeg or
avi file. I use avi and MPEG all the time on both platforms.

The latest revision of Quicktime on the Mac plays MPEG flawlessly. Fixes
unpredictable playback on Powerpoint Mac.
