Can I just put any PCI Ethernet card into my Computer warehouse/Motorola
mac clone running 9.1 and expect it to work?

No, sorry. You need one with Mac drivers.

Kingston Ethernet cards are your friend here - I had one working
perfectly in a PM6400 under OS 8 thru 9.2.2

Be careful. A number of Kingston 100 base cards disconnect at random in
OS9+.
Asante cards don't have this problem
