I downloaded this tonight and I cannot seem to get past the first
screen to install it. My app stops responding and sends a report
error to MS. Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

I am also having the same problem. It seems that the application "MSN
Messenger Daemon" is crashing. It happens everytime I click the first
next button on the installation wizard.

Is there any way to fix this?

Hi,

There may be a daemon running from the old version. You can shut it down in
the System Preferences panel.

In Jaguar (10.2) go to the Login control panel. If you see a MSN daemon
running you can turn it off.

In Panther (10.3) go to the Users panel and go to the startup items for the
user and turn it off there.

It might be necessary to restart before installing (might not - give the
installer a try).

I have tried to remove the MSN messenger demon using the activity
monitor but it still doesn't work.

Hi again,

Try searching your hard drive for any files with MSN in the file name. If it
looks like it's a preference for MSN change its name or throw it away and
empty the trash (as long as you're sure that's what it is).

Maybe there's some remnant of an old version hanging around.

I'm having the exact same issue. I click next on the first screen and
I get the spinning beach ball. I've tried removing the app and every
preference file multiple times, no luck. I've tried shutting down as
many processes as possible in activity monitor, no luck. Tried it as
the root user, no luck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I hesitate to suggest something I have never tried, but at this stage it
might be a good idea to contact Microsoft's product support.

No. I think the server's down, which doesn't make sense, because it
has been for the last four days.

Download and install 10.3.4 security update from Apple. It will work after.

Download and install th e103.4 security update. It will then install properly.
