i don't think it'd be faster, but a whole lot safer, yes
if it is an external FW and it is only a matter of copying files over I
don't see why not attach it to mac A, copy, unmount, attach to mac B,
copy, rather than attach both and pray that the directory of the drive
won't get garbled or sumfin

I get 2-300Mb/min+ over ethernet. By the time you've copied to FW,
disconected, reconnected, copied across I reckon ethernet will be
quicker....

That's what I was doing. I wanted to see if it was possible to cut out
the middle man as it were.
