View Full Version : Flash memory dates in OSX

I tried reading the files off of a Smart Media card and the dates came
out wrong. I think that OS X is reading the dates as being UTC and then
displaying them in local time so the time comes out 8 hours later than
actual. These are picture files and the correct time is important. Is
there some flag I can put on the SM card to indicate the correct time
zone or some way I can tell OS X to treat removable media as Local time?

Yep. This is a known issue in OS X; there's been some discussion of it over at
macfixit.com for several weeks now.

The EXIF data in each photo should have the correct time and an
application like ExifRenamer can rename the picture files to contain the
time extracted from that data.
