For a few days non, I am getting several kernel panics (message saying must
restart) and applications like Entourage and Safari often quit.

I have:

- zapped pram
- rebuilt power mangager
- redone permissions
- done SOS
-did a fsck -y
- ran Virex
-un plugged all peripherals including my macally pc usb card

nothing helps

I think, not sure, that the problem started after running MacJanitor.

I will reinstall the OS, before, is there sth else I can try, preferences to
trash, etc.?

I'm afraid it might be faulty ram or mother board, hoping not.

Have a PB WallstreeT, 512 ram.

Thanks.

My system had similar problems last week, tried everything you did with
no success and eventually traced it to bad ram. Now it's fine.

if you don't already have one - create another user. (system preferences
- accounts - new user)
then log yourself out and log in as that other user.
see if it still happens.
it's a bit of a long shot.

how did you manage everything else listed above?

from what I can see, the symptoms I have are typical of faulty ram and
sometimes faulty board, I just replaced the top ram of 256 with a 128 from
my wife's ibook, it is compatible, computer is running, but it is too early
to see if this was the culprit

if I still crash and get these kernel things, I will out the 128 in the
bottom slot, a bit more difficult, have to take out the processor card, but
think I can do it, I will post back
