Apple's DVD-playing program works only with Apple's DVD-playing
hardware. You got hardware from Pioneer, you'll need to use
different software.

Assuming he has a Pioneer A03/04/05, Apple's DVD player will work
perfectly, so something else (not hardware) is wrong.
