There is now a data logger that works with the Mac, for US $200. I
bought a unit sight unseen after seeing it mentioned in Macworld (May
2005, page 68), and looking over the website "http://www.onsetcomp.com".

I got a model U12-012, and have been using it for about a week now. So
far, so good. Everything works as advertised.

Although not obvious from the photos, the unit is 70mm by 57mm by 17mm,
and fits easily in a shirt pocket.

One thing I would change is the light measurement channel: It's linear,
while logarithmic would be better. With linear, ordinary indoor
illumination levels are at the bottom of the sensitivity range. I
haven't tried the unit in full sunlight. It may saturate.

Apparently, only the U12 series have Mac software (MacOS 10 only). All
series have Windows software.

There are also the Pasco Xplorer dataloggers.

I didn't know of that one. So there are just these two, or are there
some others?
