Anybody have any idea where I can find a 32MB RAM Module for a PowerBook
190 ? According to the specs, a 32MB RAM module for the PowerBook 5300
would work in this machine, as the PB 190 series uses PB 5300 RAM Modules.
Is 32MB the highest expansion module I can install, or have others
installed higher capacity modules in this 68040 PowerBook 190?
best regards, Perry

New, you can get a 32 MB module for a PB 190 at Data Memory Systems for
$85. Web site is www.datamem.com. A 32 MB module from a PB 5300 might
work, or it might not. That depends on who made it and whether they
followed Apple's specifications for making a module that would work in
both. Many did not. There is information on the Apple Developers site
that outlines the differences between the 5300 and 190 memory expansion
slot and controller. Specifically, this information is contained in an
"Error Note" that corrects some information in the developer guides for
the 190 and the 5300.
And yes, 32 MB is the largest you can put in the PB 190. Depending on
whether your 190 came with 4 MB or 8 MB of RAM on the logic board, that
will give a maximum of 36 or 40 MB. The 190 controller will not see
more than 32 MB installed in the RAM expansion slot.
