OK, I can get (paid) wireless access at Starbucks, but I go there so
seldom it just doesn't make sense to subscribe. Any coffee shops or
public places with with free wireless access? Thanks.

From my experience - many hotel lobbies (sometimes this includes ground
floor restaurants, bars etc.). You should be more specific in naming a
particular city (I doubt whether addresses in London or Berlin could
help you :-)).
