View Full Version : Print Sharing between OS X and OS 9

I've just added a new iBook to my home LAN. My USB printer is
connected to an older iMac running on OS 9.2.2 (iBook is 10.2.6). I
cannot get Print Center to recognize and add the network printer.
However, from the Classic platform everything works like it used to.
From previous posts it's not quite clear: am I simply out of luck?
TIA for any suggestions.

The only way to print is to save to PDF in OS X and then print the PDF
in OS 9. Printer sharing is not compatible between the operating systems.

Or have a look at <http://www.geocities.com/barijaona/print66/>. In case you
set up the MacOS X machine to create output in the printer's native language
(might be necessary to use GhostScript/Gimp-Print or wait until MacOS 10.3
is available) you can use remote LPR to print to the MacOS 9 machine...
