Hi,

I use my iMac's internal modem (56K v.90) to connect to AOL. It worked
fine recently, but when I turned on my computer the other day, it no
longer worked. I can hear it dialing the number, and it sounds like
its beginning a handshake, but then I suddenly get a steady tone, and
AOL eventually tells me that my modem is not accepting its setup
commands. I get the same problem in OS X and 9, so I'm not really sure
what the problem is.

Your problem is with AOL...why are you using that piece of crap
software to view the internet.
How much is your AOL monthly? Couldn't you just use internet explorer
and another internet provider. Wouldn't it be cheaper..Or even a free
internet provider...for dial up..

for your modem, doulbe check it doesn't have any lose connections. But
it sounds like your problem is with aol..call them..

Have you gone into Setup (via Expert) and checked to see that the correct modem
is selected? Or let AOL do it's thing where it tries to find the modem.

Well, I just found my Apple Hardware Test CD, and it gave me an error
code "modm/2/3". It looks like I'll have to find something else then,
but I thought I'd post this in case it is helpful to anyone.
