On my OS X 10.2.6 based computer I used Net Info to activate AFP over
EtherTalk, so my two computers do not have to be able to find each other
based on their IP addresses, but I have bumped into a minor annoying
problem...
My OS 9.0.4 based Mac is set to access the internet through a dial-up
PPP connection, and I would like to leave it that way. However, whenever
I connect to the AppleShare server on my OS X 10.2.6 computer, the OS
9.0.4 based computer dials the internet. I usually cancel the connection
before it is established, and then the OS 9.0.4 based computer connects
to the OS X 10.2.6 based computer without any issues.
Why does the OS 9.0.4 based computer try to dail the internet? Is there
anything I can do, besides putting both computers on there own private
(10.0.0.x) network, to keep the OS 9.0.4 based computer from connecting
to the internet when it doesn't need to?
Thanks,
Chris
