Hi,

I have a powerbook g3 bronze pismo. My computer has been
making whistling sounds over the past two weeks or so. It is
coming from the bakc o the computer and I htknk my hard drive
is going.

Can anyone recommend a good hard drive for replacement?
I am trying to do backups and my cd burner keeps getting
error messages. I am worried I am going to lose valualbe info.

Thanks,
Lynn

I put a Toshiba 12 GB in my Wallstreet several years ago. Works fine.
Makes a little bit of a high-pitched whine, but seems quite reliable.

Pismo has a thin case and requires a thin drive. I forget the exact
dimension limit, but you should be able to find it in the Specifications
section of the Apple web site (look in the Support area, http://www.apple.com/support)

I think that most notebook drives available at retail today will fit the
Pismo. Toshiba and IBM are two well-known manufacturers, and there are others.

You can call a Mac reseller such as MacConnection, MacMall, etc, and
they will advise.
