Hi, i am a Mac newbie.
The computer I am dealing with has a CD drive. How can I find out it
is a CD writer or just a CD reader?
The device informations shows like the following:
Vendor: Matshita
Product ID: CD-ROM CR-589
Does "CR" means it's a CD writer? or only "CDR" means it is a CD
writer?
Thanks in advance.
Eddy
BTW, when i insert a blank CD, it gives message like "CD is locked"

While the above link gives provides a good clue as to where to find
the information on the drive, Google query of
Matsushita CD-ROM CR-589
gets you closer.
The second or third link down get you:
http://www.mke.panasonic.co.jp/en/device/discontinue.html
Which includes a link to this page which indicates that the drive is a
cd-rom drive.
http://www.mke.panasonic.co.jp/en/device/storage/cd_rom/cr_589_b.html
Also, the Apple System profiler would have said CD-RW.
