I need the model number for my iBook and I can't find it anywhere.
There's nothing on the outside of the machine and it doesn't show up in
System Profiler either.
I bought this iBook last December. It's an 800 MHz dual USB with 30GB
hard drive, 512 backside L2 cache and combo drive (DVD ROM, CDRW).
I'd appreciate any information on how to figure out the model number.

Strange:
Try Apple System Profiler>System Profile>Hardware Overview
it show up under Sales order number
Mine is M7633SM/A for a Pismo PB.

Look on the original packing box that it came in. It should be on the side
of that.

Do you mean the serial number? Remove the keyboard; you should see a
sticker. m.

Unfortunately, that's long gone.

Not on this iBook or my eMac either. There's no "sales order number"
under Hardware Overview. There is a sales order number listing under
Production Information but it contains the unhelpful comment "not
applicable."
Anyway, I finally dug it out of Apple's web site -- under the
specifications tab you can find data sheets for all the models.
