Quadra 605 - System 7.1 - Fresh OS install after card installation

I have installed an Apple Computer Ethernet LC Twisted Pair Card
(bears a Sonic-T chip) in this machine.

The Control Panels, File Sharing Monitor, Network, Sharing Setup,
Users & Groups are present.

The Extensions, AppleShare, File Sharing Extension, Network Extension
are present.

There is currently no place (that I've found anyway) to put any
network configuration information . . . IP address, DNS server,
Gateway, Netmask, etc.

It would appear that I am perhaps missing some software . . . MacTCP?
If so how is it obtained and from where? Currently all I have
available is a set of 6 Quadra 605 System Installation floppies.

Thanks for any help,
Dave

There should be a TCP/IP control panel. If it's not there, then you
need to install it from your system software CD.

MacTCP was for System 6. The control panel for 7.x is named TCP/IP.

On an unrelated note, you may also want to upgrade your system
software. A Quadra 605 can go up to System 8.1 (Minimum RAM is 16M, I
recommend at least 32.) I personally found some problems with 7.1.
I would upgrade to 7.5.5 (which can be done with free downloads), to
7.6.1 (if you have an install CD) or to 8.1 (if you have enough RAM
and an install CD.)

You can go to version 7.5.5 via free downloads:
http://www.info.apple.com/support/oldersoftwarelist.html

At this URL, you can get floppy images for 7.5.3 (19 disk images) and
the updater to bring it up to 7.5.5. (Scroll down to the section
labeled "System Software Downloads" and download all the appropriate
files.)

To install 7.6 or 8, you'll need a CD, unfortunately. Apple hasn't
(yet?) made those systems available for public download. (They do
have the updaters to bring 7.6 to 7.6.1 and to bring 8.0 to 8.1,
however.)

If you don't have a program to make floppies or mount the disk
images, you can download Disk Copy from the same web page, which will
let you do both.
