View Full Version : AP Extreme Base Station Disassembly?

I've been able to find disassembly instructions on the original Airport Base
Station (though it appears not to have needed instructions for that), but
not for the Extreme Base Station. There's something apparently different
with the construction of the latter. After removing the three screws to open
the shell, the silver module doesn't come out freely like on the
non-Extreme. There's nothing apparent holding it in, but something is.
Anyone know how to remove its insides?

Neill, thanks for that web link, I needed it also.

BTW, if anyone else besides me wants to tackle soldering those fine
wires and shield-pigtails of the tiny antenna coax cables, an ordinary
small Ungar soldering iron with a filed-down tip works well, provided
you work using a stand-type magnifying glass.

Try the modified soldering-iron tip on junk sections of coax to make
sure it will work okay.
