Hi,

I just bought a iBook computer and I will like to connect it to my
router and then create a lan between the ibook and my 2 old PCs both
with windows XP. I was following other instructions in this forum but
due that I don't know nothing about apple OS I can't get it done.
I will appreciate very much your help! Thanks!

Regards

First-- are you running OS X 10.1 or later on the iBook? If not,
you'll need 3rd party software to be able to connect with your PCs.
(You can check if you're not sure by clicking on the Apple icon in the
top left-corner, and choosing About This Mac from the menu).

Can your 2 PCs see one another? Get that going first. (Email me if you
need help with that-- it's off topic for this newsgroup).

Can you Ping the PCs' IP addresses from the Mac (use the Network
Utility, found in the Applications/Utilities folder).

If you can ping the PCs from the Mac, click on the Finder's Go menu,
and choose the Connect to Server item. In the Address: field, enter
the following:

smb://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is one of your PC's IP
address... if all works as planned, you should be prompted if there is
a password, and then to choose if you have more than one shared folder
on the PC.

By the way, life is easier if your login name on the Mac is one of the
authorized users on the PC.
