I feel that apple is very wrong....
i spent close to $500 bucks on a 20 gig ipod for them to come out with a new
model about a month later. and on top of that they are going to forget all
the people who bought an ipod before the new version and offer software
upgrades to the new model, but nothing to better the older model.

Apple needs to learn to appreciate it's very loyal users ( the people who
keep them in business).

Does your 20 gig ipod work? Do have have a written promise from Apple to
never release a new product? Do you have a written promise from Apple
that a new iPod wouldn't have new features that the old doesn't?

Point 1: The new iPod has a number of problems the older version doesn't
Point 2: The old iPod plays about 2 hours longer than the new version
Point 3: The new iPod's controls are touchy as all get out

Point 4: There are indications that a software update for the old
version of the iPod will eventually provide most of the features of the
new one.

Stop whining and enjoy your ipod. Apple isn't your best friend. Apple
doesn't exist to make you happy. Apple is a corporation that has a
simple mission - to make money for its stockholders.

That's life. Deal with it.

Everything (not just tech gadgets) that you own and everything you
ever buy in the future will eventually be superseded by a new,
improved model.

And Microsoft won't release a software update for Word 5.1 so that it
has all the features of the Office version.

There's always going to be newer, better software than the version
that came with your machine, and eventually the latest version won't
run on your machine. That's how the computer business works.

> Apple needs to learn to appreciate it's very loyal users ( the people who

Apple sold you a machine and included the software you need to use it.
It guaranteed that it would work, and gave a warranty in case it
didn't. What more do you want? Apple didn't promise to support the
iPod for all eternity.

You're pissed off because Apple released a new model shortly after you
bought yours. If getting the latest and greatest is important to you,
then you should do your homework before you buy and find out if new
models are expected. You didn't, so you're trying to blame Apple.
Apple's not at fault here.

You're whining about $500 for an iPod? Hey, you're lucky compared to
me! I bought a Geo Prizm several years ago for around $16000, and not
much later they came out with a new model, with a couple of new
features, and they didn't provide any way to better mine.

Ohhhh....boo f*cking hoo, you whiney suck.

You are of the same ilk that goes through the drive thru at McDonald's
everyday of the week for 5 years, and then turns around and sues them for
selling unhealthy foods.

Simply put, you are a bonehead.

New technology will always replace previous technology. If you don't
understand that, then go back to the Ozark's and pluck on your banjo you
inbred loser.

And I seriously doubt from your whineing that you are a loyal Apple user,
or loyal to any company and it's products for that matter.

In some ways, the old 20G model is definately _better_ than the
new model. In particular, the better battery life.

The new software upgrades are not that big a deal. So they
have a new game. The only thing that might have been nice
would be the deal whereby you could update playlists on
the iPod itself instead of having to go to iTunes for it.

FWIW, I've got a 20, too.

Seriously - the battery-life thing is a bigger deal than
the new software.

Hi,

I also bought a the ipod photo just prior to the release of the new
video ipod...:(...but...I'm okay.

If you really need to have the video ipod just roam the net looking
for give-a-way contests....or better yet....gather up all the stuff you
no longer need and go hawk it on e-bay....might want to start the
hawking with the ipod you just bought....and if you kept all of the
original packaging it will even get you more money...:)

I'm very happy with my ipod photo...so let me know if you are going to
hawk yours on ebay...I might even place a bid....:)

Cheers...:)

So they shouldn't bring out new models? What would you have
them do?

Does the old model do every thing that it did when you
chose buy it? Have any of the reasons you bought it ceased
to be?

Just please don't post those contests here in the newsgroups.
You'll annoy everyone in the newsgroup and your contest ID will
get reported back to the freebie place so you won't get the
freebie.

If you really must have the latest one, then this is your
best bet - sell the old one for as much as you can get
and swallow the difference in price.

I sold my Shuffle and bought a Nano.
